Simulations on the web
The WinShell model uses state-of-the-art equations in order to determine shellfish
growth. There is currently no cost for usage. This site is part of the new Software-As-A-Service
(SAAS) concept, where the application runs directly off the web.
Bivalve growth models
The production of cultivated shellfish such as mussels and oysters in estuaries
and coastal systems is an important economic activity in many parts of the world.
This website is designed for shellfish farmers and water managers, in order to determine
how an animal will grow in a certain area, on the basis of food availability and
environmental conditions. The intended scope of application is for shellfish farms
in coastal and estuarine waters.
The Shellfish models used in WinShell have been calibrated and validated for various
coastal systems. However, no model is universal. If you need help, feel free to
email us.
By using WinShell you acknowledge that you agree to our
Terms of Service.
Using the SAAS model
You can use WinShell by simply clicking on the button below. To use the full model,
you need to register by filling out a simple form. This will enable you to use additional
features:
- Run the model for additional species
- Add more data points as environmental drivers
- Load and save drivers and results
